Organic Dude, With all due respect, Doctor, I submit that people who are addicted don't need euphemisms, they need hard truth. Hearing the ugly words, "addict" and/or "alcoholic," loud and clear, has been known to cut through the haze and grab the addict's attention. Most heavy users don't think of themselves in those terms, and it can be shocking to hear the words used in reference to oneself.

Daybonn, instead of “drug addict” we in the medical profession use “substance use disorder” because it is more respectful. Please consider this.
