Another example of this effect is when a game is constantly interrupted by ads which cause cognitive tension especially if it’s the same ad over and over again…..eg. ‘Royal Match.’ Is anyone else as sick of looking at the cross eyed king in that tiresome ad as I am?

very interesting. no doubt probably why school schedules have lots of breaks etc. interesting how the human brain works - once the task is complete, that task is then put to the back of the mind, but current task are priority and remain top of mind til finished.

I was in the group students who is doing his task quickly after class. I am still in that mode for the logical like Math tasks. when you do not complete your task it remain in your mind then your brain processes it in background. My feeling is it is good for memorable tasks like writing or studying or even doing an active task.

CV, I lost in the first round also with the word advantageous. I'd never heard it pronounced before and I didn't think to ask for the definition.

unless you suffer from short term memory loss and if a task is interrupted before completion, I've forgotten the task and what I was doing. It's ok,I forget what I'm doing while I'm doing it even when I'm not interrupted.

seems to me if I completed something I no longer have to think about it. however, if not, I will continue to work on how to complete it, even unconsciously.

The spelling bee word that got me was colonel. Pronounced kernel, which the preceding person spelled kernel and I was asked to spell the word in its different way…… darn old homophones!

Player #17956147, Yes, it could be. We always remember the time we failed/get F or U grade, depending on a country's education system. Even one pass/get C grade and above, they still remember failures more I think that thinking more about failures create more success so the failures is just a reminder that one is too bad and you know, some words that it would be offensive in nature

I was ousted by the first word given me in a local spelling bee. also at age ten. My word was "village.". I was scared stiff and omitted the second "l."
