The only dreadful part is his cropped ears.
The picture looks odd beecause the dog has his head closer to the photographer than his body.
It's down to perspective.

I once had a Great Dane, Ben's ears were NOT cropped.
It's a barbaric practice, along with docking tails.
Thankfully, both practices are banned in the UK, apart from veterinary necessity.

Got a Great Dane from the dog pound, she had welped and had been abandoned. She was a great, gentle giant. I miss her, her name was Daisy.
