NurseJo, Hi! Sheep dogs have no problem with sun or heat because dogs don't perspire to cool off...they pant to cool off. Give him constant access to fresh cool water and you're good to go. Get your favorite breed. The coat color of grey & white reflects sunlight, too. I'm a Hall of Fame dog person, handler, breeder, judge, just in case you don't believe me.

My grandparents had one of these ..it was called Betsy, lovely dog, great for families ..she was hurt badly when they were burgled and they beat her up :( she died not long after :(

My big Panda ❤. great with kids and very proactive. they're a highly intelligent breed that demand constant work to keep them happy. My boy was a gentle giant and my best friend. sadly they're only here for a short time. fun fact: they're a breed that have the natural instinct to herd, however they do not nip at livestock compared to other herding breeds. they use vocal cues to herd or nudging.

I owned a wonderful sheep dog years ago. She was a retired show dog her name was Noel. she was a gentle, fluffy , bundle of fun. My children would run around the backyard and she would run around herding them in it was so comical. Great dog lived 12 years. Great memories!

Oh they love to herd children. I know that first hand and it can be a good thing. I grew up.witj an OES named Turk, as loyal and loving dog as I've ever seen. I sure loved that dog as I've loved all my fur babies. like family because they are.
