This is the Yellow-billed Magpie confined to the valleys and foothills of western California. These are in the genus Pica which includes the recently split Black-billed and Eurasian Magpies, Oriental, Black-dumped, Maghreb and Asia Magpies. Magpies in Australia are Bellmagpies in different family.

I love magpies. but if a cat kills one, about 20 will come yo the house where the cat lives they will swoop and try to attack the cat. sometimes they succeed. that's nature!

Well I can testify that Rooks love shiny objects! My husband was worried about me wearing my watch when i was outside working. So I took it off & set it on the hood of my car. When I went back 5 minutes later it was gone. No person took it. I live out in the country. I love birds but dislike the Rooks! Expensive watch & they make a real racket. They chase the other birds away. My new watch stays in the house now!

The Magpie is a very beautiful bird! I thought they were ugly because of Disney & other cartoons. And they were dumb also. by, Quiz

Player #K, Same here. Temperate climates for magies though?.. I live in the top end of the NT and that's not temperate. Get swooped every season.
