George Harrison, of the Beatles, organised a concert to raise money and awareness for the people whose lives were devastated by this event. In 1968, the Beatles travelled to India and studied TM with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi which influenced their music for a while. George’s connection with Indian music was life-long and, after his death, the Concert for George, held at the Royal Albert Hall, London, November 29, 2002 feautured both Ravi and his daughter Anoushka Shankar and their singers and musicians alongside the British and American singers who collaborated with, and were friends of George. His Concert for Bangladesh helped enormously with financial relief for the people after this disaster.
