I make these for Xmas or New Year's dinner. I give the spuds a couple of minutes in the microwave just to soften up a bit and put them in the fridge the night before. This makes it easier to handle and cook on a busy day. Then slice into them b4 baking. I've also made each one with different toppings so guests get their favourite flavors.
