What is this arrow pointing to?
Correct answer: The fuel filler cap side
Canadagirl
Wow. Never knew. Thanks for the info. Going to ask my friends if they know this tidbit.
micron9999
Bring back putting it behind the rear license plate. Not only will you not have to remember which side it's on, it won't matter which way you drive in nor which pump uou choose.

it's amazing how many people don't know this. But who the hell reads the whole manual ha ha

Have known this for years! It's also great to know if you're driving someone else's car...
Half of Double
Not the gas tank side, doh. Only the side where the tank door is.
luckycatfay
I never knew this before wow.

Funny, I just found out recently from my son who is an apprentice mechanic. After almost 40 years of driving, now I know. Isn't it amazing how we can overlooked a lot of things, no matter how simple, but it means a lot.😀
Jonesy
not all car manufacturers do this

micron9999, Yes, bring back the flaming rear-end collision 💥

Player #4928578frann, I've been driving for 50 years and just learned of this last year. I've pulled up to the wrong side of the gas pump in rentals and borrowed cars many times.

Lunarsea, that’s not even true in the picture above. The hose is always on the right in the icon. The arrow/triangle tell you where the flap is.
Player #62752956
Jonesy, maybe that’s true, but I haven’t driven a rental car without this arrow as far as I can remember.

micron9999, I had a car like that, fuel cap under rear numberplate. It was great. car was 1979 Ford Escort.

I guess I am one of the 90 percent of the people that didn't know this.
Player #43091749
My vehicle doesn't have that symbol. I ran out of gas years ago and don't know where the filling tube is.
Player #19415390
micron9999, agree
Zverzak
Will check it at once in my cars :D
Lunarsea
I've never seen an arrow on any of the six cars I've owned. However, if the hose is on the right in the picture, the flap's on the right hand side. If the hose is on the left, the flap's on the left.

WoW!
Never even heard of that.
Thank you ❤

I have been driving for 40 years and only learned this about 5 years ago! But the cars I have driven have not had that symbol, they were not that modern!
Player #21841456
never noticed !!
Player #30740230
It would have been nice if the car manufacturers put a removable decal on the dashboard indicating this handy feature!
Player #25874027
Half of Double,
The “tank door “ is normally called the “filler cap”
Exception on a Centurion or Sherman etc
Aa
Never knew that thanks
Player #16702581
I knew this because I use this!!! I have advanced CRS...can't remember stuff!
Player #16702581
micron9999, more chance of getting squished between cars.

Player #8835375
Thats because it's not there on many vehicles.

Poorly worded choices...The first two are the same to me.

Player mj88, and behind the fuel door is the filler cap
Uninitialized
My ex had similar problem only with Hillman Impe or was it a Fiat 500.
Player mj88
That is what we call the fuel door! Poorly worded answers.
RedSeaDiver
I hadn't finished!
Whichever side the hose is on the pump diagram, that's the side your filler cap is on.
RedSeaDiver
I've never had a car with this symbol on the gauge, but I've always known that if the hose on the pump diagram is on
Bettyfitz
I knew, but only recently, & I’ve been driving for 20 years!
