In which year did Alaska become a state?

Land ... the earth, the terrain on which are born to does not belong to man ~ we belong to it. Oh how I wish we would stop buying & selling it like it does, the earth is the only one of its kind.

Barb@71, Yes it was, but that was a time Russia could not manage Alaska by itself because you had to go through either by sea from Sea of Okhotsk to Alaska's coast or the Far East (Arctic-like conditions) Russia didn't have that technology/capabilities to manage
