You are correct that Brazil is the only Portuguese speaking country in the Americas, but also the biggest unified one - that would have been lots had it fragmentes like the Spanish speaking ones.

I pretty much knew this one, but I sometimes have trouble with which of these colonial powers (Spain or Portugal) snapped up what. I *think* Brazil is the only one the Portuguese got in the Western hemisphere, unless it was a small Caribbean island.

They did not mention the fact that they made Macau a gambling hub and told China that it must be only place to gamble in Mainland China (after Macau becomes an Autonomous region as part of a treaty, also happened to Hong Kong). In fact, Macau is the Las Vegas of Asia.
