I had a book of the Grimm brothers original stories. In Cinderella, one of the stepsisters cuts off a toe and the other a part of her heel to try to put on the glass slipper. The prince sees the blood though and moves on to Cinderella. Grim indeed and altered to be less shocking in other versions.
