Yum. Grew up on a farm. I have eaten 70 times my weight in watermelon. However, I cannot enjoy seedless ones. No taste and no seed spitting contests.

Seeded watermelons are much tastier than the seedless ones. Plus, as a kid, I used to finger-shoot the seeds at my parents and brothers who would then glare at me and finger-shoot seeds back at me.

Not my fav but I do love it I ate way too much as a kid & never fully regained my love for it but it’s lovely in fruit punch of course not to an overwhelming degree. A great fruit for hot weather with high water content.

swish, I didn't know about cooking the rind either and am going to look into it. The flesh is really good for you so I could only imagine the rind is more healthy. And I totally agree the seed variety is more tasty. Remove your mask and enjoy a watermelon!

I am interested to know about the rind is edible after cooking it? I would like to know how to do it. Don't think it is as straight forward as just putting it in a pot and cooking it? anybody know of a recipe for it?

I found this recipe last year and have made it often for visitors. If you like watermelon, give it a try! You cut up the watermelon (seedless) into squares (about 2 inches by 2 inches.) Lay the pieces on parchment paper, on plates and put the plates in the freezer overnight. Take the pieces out of the freezer and let them set out for about 15 minutes. Place pieces is a blender along with fresh chopped mint and 30 cc of vodka. Blend well and put into small serving containers. Put the containers back into the freezer until ready to serve. You can also use one larger container. The vodka prevents the mixture from freezing solid which would make it difficult to serve.
