Which is the closest dwarf planet to the Sun?

This was one of the reasons that astronomers demoted Pluto. As more dwarf planets were discovered beyond Pluto, it was decided not to add planets 10,11, etc. Still have a soft spot for Pluto though!

I thought ceres was a moon of one of the giant planets. I am still confused about it.
