Which of Ernest Hemingway's wives died of acute shock?

Pheochromocytoma is a VERY rare disease. My mother got it in her late twenties and NIH took her on as a Gov't supported patient. She had the malignant version, b/c the benign version is slightly more common. My mom lived until 45 yrs of age when I was 19. It was rare (only 30 known cases, worldwide at the time) but I never heard about the symptom that killed Pauline Hemingway. Terrible illness.

My dad had a pheochromocytoma that went undetected for years. They thought he had a bad heart. He lived to be 83. The diagnosis explained a lot of the symptoms he'd had for years.

I would die as well if my husband ever did the dishes. Married for 51 yrs.
