There was never a Province of Canada. There were Upper Canada and Lower Canada (basically Ontario and Quebec)

DSDA, I wasn't around for Pierre Elliott Trudeau's government but I've heard he was almost like a pop icon of the time. My mom told me she used to have his picture, or a poster or something hung on her bedroom wall. I've also heard that his biggest flaw in his governance was his immigration policies of basically just opening the door and placing the welcome mat.

ProudCanadian, that is speaking in terms of before Canada became Canada officially. while we were still a British Colony and hadn't become the country of Canada yet. Upper and lower Canada (and I may be wrong) didn't come to be until after Confederation in 1867 when we did become Canada and "self governing"

he's actually best known as "Sir John A. MacDonald" In school he was presented as this hero figure for being Canada's first PM. He did a lit of bad things however, and not an excuse by any means, I feel a lot of what he did was being done in the US and that influenced many decisions back in those days (and still today for some things). What he did needs to be recognized and added to the history books, however the good he did too shouldn't be erased either.

DSDA, I remember Pierre's marriage to Margaret and the birth of their three sons well.

For those non-Canadians out there, Justin Trudeau's father, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, was Prime Minister of Canada before him. In fact, Justin was born while his dad was PM.
