Who played the title role in the children's television program 'Captain Kangaroo'?

Loved this program as a small child!

I used to watch this program every morning before school...while I ate breakfast in front of the television. He was called Captain Kangaroo because the jacket he wore for the show had really huge pockets. Mr. Green Jeans actually wore green jeans but because we only had black and white TVs in the 50's we just had to take their word for it.

I remember watching Captain Kangaroo when I was a kid back in the 60’s.

I grow up watching these shows.

I miss the theme song.

I would stare at the test pattern until the shows started
