In Greek mythology, Zeus is the god of what?

All this Greek and Roman gods stuff makes me wonder what they were smoking.

Actually Zeus is a pelagisc name. Old Greeks and Illyrians borrowed or inherited the gods names and stories from them. The fact is that today these names make sense or can be translated only in albanian language. Maybe today greek people and/or language isn't so much related with old ones

micron9999, Each one had particular things that they had power over. The earliest and oldest often had powers over agriculture, weather, etc., those things that decided whether one would eat, etc.

Actually, Aphrodite is the oldest goddess.She was born from Uranus ichor. Hestia is the oldest child of Kronos while Zeus is the youngest and he did not get eaten. He's the one who free his older siblings from his father stomach's by giving Kronos mixture of herbs and making him vomit.
