Which of these is in the picture?

I work in a prison where the inmates make these insect hotels. We have quite a number scattered around the prison gardens.

I hope termites aren't one of the types of insects these hotels attract!

ItchySasquatch6007, I have several in my garden. Some I've made myself from logs, some hollow branches from my silver birch tree had to come off, for safety reasons. I just filled the hollow centre with bark, twigs and short lengths of bamboo ( I have a stand of bamboo in the garden) you can buy bamboo canes from a garden centre and usually you can buy ready made bug hotels. I have a stumpery near my pond, great for insects and frogs and toads. A stumpery is just a jumbled pile of old logs and tree roots. Place in a shaded, damp area.

Just move to Florida, trust me you won't need an insect hotel.
