Who is the Father of Microbiology?

I recommend reading “Microbe Hunters” by de Kruif; it talks about this scientist and others like Pasteur. It’s an old book but quite interesting.

this is incorrect. although the Dutch merchant and amateur scientist was the first to see microorganisms through his self made microscopes, he is sadly not referred to as the father of microbiology in an official capacity, despite his amazing achievements.
