I saw the first Holmes film. Being an avid Holmes fan, I was pleasantly surprised. IIRC, it blended two or three of the original stories, but that was OK. I could have done without a gratuitous Holmes-Watson gay joke and Mycroft exposing himself to the future Mrs. Watson seemed out of character, but he was an eccentric guy.
