Diver Dan, OK. How is curling a sport? Well, first of all it takes skill and finesse to slide the rock across the ice to the target area (aka "the house"). You play with a team, combining your skills together to compete against another team. The sweepers need the skill and judgement to sweep the rock toward the centre of the house in the case of their own team's rock, or out of the house if it is the other team's rock. So, we have skill, finesse, judgement and competition involved. Sounds like a sport to me.

When I first saw curling I was skeptical. But the more I watched, the more I understood it and then I grew to enjoy it. I'd love to try it but my old bones won't get into any of those positions! So I'll just watch and enjoy.

DSDA, I understand that needs practice for the skills! But calling curling a sport is like calling Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, etc a sport.
