I visited this site once and climbed all the way to the top of the pyramid. There was a statue of a green jaguar inside. The steps were really really narrow and it was quite steep so I descended the stairs on my rear end holding on to a heavy chain all the way down to the bottom.

Bit of an unfair question as el castilo is a Spanish word for castle so when the maya built it that name would never have been used as they had not yet been colonised.

luckycatfay, There very few things in the world still called by the original name . Do you think Stonehenge is the name from the Druids? Even if we call the Easter Island statues the Rapa Nui after the Rapa Nui people we believe to have built them , how do we know if the builders called them that if there are no living people from that civilisation.
