my bro lives in Australia, he has a sulphur crested that comes to eat on his balcony, amidst dozens of other stunning birds.

Arohanui, when I was young I did foster care for parrots in bad homes. Which is frankly a LOT of them. Most people are ill equipped to have a pet bird, I love them but I am inclined to agree it’s a poor idea, and I don’t participate anymore

Frankie, I find birds fascinating, but can imagine that it must have been an awful experience for you!

love a cockatoo, and isn't it funny that they're name is almost the same spelling as cockapoo? albeit for one letter.

Sharon , Hope he has no timber walls or window frames at his house...especially Oregon. A flock of Cockatoos ate mine out in a day while l was at work. l had a bush block of 5 acres back then..They chew on the wood not for food but to sharpen their beaks l think...looked like a bomb had gone off. Matchstick pieces of wood 2 inches thick all over the ground..Devastating!! They also cleaned up all my nuts off the trees and tips of a paulownia plantation l was growing. As beautiful as they are, l wouldn't advise feeding them... EVER. They are very smart birds and send out a scout ( one bird) that checks things out before the flocks comes in. My sister owned a very foul mouth one (Yes they can learn to talk) for over 30yrs but afraid l couldn't warm to it after what they did. Now on 120 acres in a completely different area and they are still a pest at certain times of the year.. Brick house now though thankfully.

They also live a very long time in captivity. Well over 70 years
