I watched this done humanly in Hawaii as Vanilla orchids are not native to the island so humans had to step in & do it manually. plus, I saw it on a TV programme called Homestead Rescue

Arohanui, He was a slave and learned the basics of botany (and pollination) from his master. Even though he was eventually freed, he struggled in poverty until his death. Never really rewarded for that genius accomplishment during his lifetime.
