Did you know that it gets its name from the Yellowstone River that runs through it? The Minnetaree Tribe called it Mi-Tse-A-Da-Zi which translates to “yellow rock river” This is due to its high concentration of sulfur dioxide from its geothermal activity.

Yellowstone is one of the most awe-inspiring places to experience on earth. I’m glad I did not know what to expect when we visited the first time in 2005. We were astonished by the biological diversity. We have visited 3 times now. In 2021, we saw a gray wolf sauntering along, and experienced 12” of snow in May. Fox, pronghorn, bison with babies, bear, And an occasional moose. We stay in the town of West Yellowstone. A quaint place with good restaurants. Visit the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center. The entrance to Yellowstone is about a mile from there. A fascinating place Yellowstone!

Awesome place, a must see if you can manage it. I was there for 5 days in 2020 and still have so much more to see and experience.
