How many holes does a regular golf course consist of ?

I worked at Locust Hills Country Club a long time ago. On day everyone was talking @a special golfer coming to play the course. He came into the bar after his game and I got to meet him, really nice guy, but what really amazed me was he was totally blind! His asst. walked him through the course once and then he played the course and he had the best score of all the other patrons. Bravo.
