"Based on" is to be taken very liberally here. Frozen as nearly nothing to do with "The Snowqueen". Except that there is a queen who had icepowers and a siblings frozen heart gets melted by the other siblings tears. (though the manifestation of the "frozen heart" is also very different)

Diamond Lover, No. Nothing like the Snow Queen at all by what it says. We did it as our school play back in 1953. I am very small and was picked because they needed a child in the crowd scene at the end. The next year I played Puck. Again, being small was an asset.

Yeah based on in the extremely loosest sense I think. I've read the Hans Christian Anderson story and the Snow Queen was more of a fairy who spirited a boy away to keep like a pet. It's been ages since I've read it but I don't think she has ice magic or it's not used. She just lives in a snowy environment. She wasn't villainous just an otherworldly being to avoid but she was more villainous than Elsa. No 2 children or robber girl or any of the characters that appeared in the original story at least the little mermaid had more to do with the original story but that's my opinion just didn't much care for the film
