The song "White Rabbit" was a major hit for which band?
Correct answer: Jefferson Airplane

Suekirider
808stevan1, I thought it was all about drugs and getting high. Airplane became Jefferson Starship somewhere down the line.

RockNRollMama82
Player #25870373, it IS about drugs, but they couldn't say that then

RockNRollMama82
One of my all time favorite songs of theirs.
And although they don't say it, the song is about DRUGS.

craig ch
Grace knew how to party.

RockNRollMama82
Suekirider, they became Jefferson Starship in 1975 then in 1985, became just Starship. Had the pleasure of seeing them in concert at UC Davis in June 1982. Some band named Huey Lewis and the News opened for them!

Uninitialized
I turned 18 in 1969. I knew exactly what the song was about. One of the most turbulent time in our recent history.

she Dani
saw them a couple of times.... in Rochester & Buffalo back when concerts where only $5.50 to $8...LOL

just remember, the ones mother gives you don't do anything at all.

Player Say what!?
It was used as the theme song for the TV movie, "Go Ask Alice" about a young girl using drugs in the early 70's. Kind of very long PSA.

Player #16868284
808stevan1, definitely an Alice in Wonderland reference. They even say ‘a hookah smoking caterpillar’.

Player Ejaq, I was in my 20's in St.Louis area and yeah it was good after I got out of the U.S.Army after the 2 years of 70-72. Thinking the decade I spent in Atlanta while in my 30's was best; All Through The 80's.!

Suekirider, Don't worry, you were right, it was about drugs. Just

"White Rabbit" and "Somebody to Love" both really showcased the power of Grace Slick's voice.

Uninitialized, I was born in 1962. I really wish I was born a decade earlier

RockNRollMama82, they did say it

Peg
Suekirider, I thought it was a slur about Alice in wonderland and about drugs and getting high

Tina M.
I remember seeing them live in concert in 1969 and being so nervous around all the people smoking grass! I was so young and naive back then.

sweetbabyblu
"and the ones that Mother gives you does nothing at all."

Organic Dude
Lash, it was a good book, wasn’t it? not preachy and the reader easily empathizes with the main character, “Alice”

Organic Dude
Suekirider, you are right. the song is loosely based on the YA book “Go Ask Alice” that dealt with the story of a nice teenage girl who dies from a drug overdose.

Lash
Player Say what!?, I didn't know they made that book into a tv movie! I read that in the 70's on recommendation of a HS English teacher.
