tootsmagoo, Me and my family went last August and yes it was fantastic to be able to walk around part of it with our tour guide who was great at explaining it all and the view of Vesuvius is amazing. The weather was so, so hot though. We also took a bus trip along the breath taking cliff edge to the Amalfi Coast. Well worth a visit to anyone going to Italy, the scenery is out of this world and we hope to return one day

Everyone always thinks of Pompeii but Herculaneum was decimated too. I love watching documentaries on the architecture & frescoes so very very pretty.

We actually walked INSIDE Vesuvius back in the 60’s.
