She was a pudgy teenager but never excessively overweight. She changed diva operatic performances from standing still and singing to physically acting the part while singing BUT she had to do something to disguise the fact that she wasn't a very good singer. I have to turn her off anytime she comes on the radio- her high notes are forced nails on a blackboard !
