Which tradeperson creates or modifies parts made of metal, plastics, or wood?

I was a machinist from 1979-88. I enjoyed it as I made parts for the F18 Fighter Jet, and also for the first Space Shuttle. Having worked in this field allowed me to make a very easy transition into fixing gym equipment for 30 years.
