Winter Hair , While it is true we need sun on us, its also true we needed protection from too much. Its like everyhting- too much of anything is bad for you!

A skin cancer specialist was on a program a couple of years ago here in the UK and he said those black and white UV photos showing lots of dark spots and patches on faces actually show perfectly normal skin and that everyone looks like that under UV light. He said they are used to frighten people into buying sun screen and everyone should just have 10 minutes a day, avoiding the midday sun, to top up vitamin D and just be sensible with the sun. Everything in moderation.

I never wear sunscreen, I also don’t lay out in the sun either

I have never experienced sunburn even though I have spent quite a lot of time in the sun. I am black and I am guessing its because of the high amount of melanin in my skin. Is this correct?

Winter Hair , did none of the mentions of 'skin cancer' trouble you in the least?

The fastest way to age your skin is to sunbath, especially under open sun without sunscreen, and of course use of sunbeds. As usual, we learn it too late in life, when our skin gets discoloration, wrinkles and god forbid, skin tags that might lead to skin cancer... And the damage is irreversible

sunscreen lotion in the Summer is a must for me. I would be severely burned without it

penawareof, my son and sister had the same problem with sunscreen. Just so you know there are a few out there that you might be able to use. Not knowing your exact issue I can't recommend one but ask your doctor or dermatologist. And stay away from the ones labeled water proof. I hope you can find something that will work for you 😊

Player #2156214, Not fact. Survival rates for Malanoma have improved substantially thanks to education, early detection & treatment. It is relatively common to have a malenoma, be treated successfully and live a long healthy life. But ignoring a suspect mole and it being malenoma is a death sentence.
