Mourning Dove Thomas, That just proves how smart lefties are! My grandfather was ambidextrous and my oldest daughter is a lefty. When she was in the fourth grade, her teacher said she should learn to be right handed. I said NO. Be proud of being left handed. There isn't many out there.

According to "The Left-Hander's Handbook" by James de Kay, up to 1/3 of Native Americans were left-handed historically. I think a lot more people would be left-handed overall if so many weren't trained out of it or discouraged to be lefties when they were children.

I’ve coached junior basketball for 10 years and on average 1 player out of a team of 8 or 9 is left hand dominant, so the percentages seem to stack up.

I’m a lefty. As are my husband, my son and his fiancé, both my best friends, both my grandfathers and two of my five brothers. Also, I’m the only female on either side of my family that is a lefty. I always tell people that I’m a lefty collector.

My belated oldest brother was a left handed, I’m ambidextrous, only bc I trained myself to write with both hands, in case I were to ever get seriously injured in a car accident or by some other means. And it paid off bc a few years ago I had a very bad stroke while sleeping one evening and during my sleep I was awoken to having a terrible violent stroke. But I was determined to pull myself out of this situation and exercise my upper and lower extremities bc I was Paralyzed on one side of my body. Anyways, i managed to regain my speech, the ability to walk and the ability to use my hand and arm again. I am walking and talking and using both hands. I’m ambidextrous and proud of it. And I’m sure due to my stroke and training myself at an early age to use both hands in case one should need to that a lot of you would agree?.
