Where was the plane carrying Lynyrd Skynyrd flying to when it crashed in 1977?
Correct answer: Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Belinda
What pilot would let their plane run out of gas?

warpath70, the tour manager actually bought the plane from Areosmith who'd decided that the plane was unsafe I read about it in the Areosmith biography

warpath70
There was more to it than running out of fuel. The engines needed tune ups and small repairs but they (as a group) decided to fly anyway

Belinda, Anytime a plane has to make planned crash landing the pilot runs it out of fuel to minimize the risk fire and explosion. These kind of crash landings normally occur at airports where runways are foamed with fire and emergency equipment at the ready. These type of landings are rare now but used to be somewhat common frequently due to landing gear issues.

I was wondering the same thing.

Player #25672957, yes but they ran out of fuel and the pilots tried crash landing but did it in dense forests. This crash landing was not planned.

Very easy if you’re a Drive By Truckers fan and you remember the song “Greenville To Baton Rouge”

jimijam56, where?

Belinda, I think I heard of something like this when the fuel cap wasn't tightened sufficiently

Rick-N-Bacher
Belinda, I don't understand how that can happen

I had read that the fuel gauges on the plane didn’t work so they used a dipstick to measure fuel. Love this band. Tragedy that it took the lives it did.
