Which plant has the ability to mimic its leaves to the leaves of the closest plant?
Correct answer: Boquila trifoliolata
* Seshati *
What an amazing plant, wow I’ve never heard of it, mimicry in plants lol they really are something sometimes scary even, they can be calculative we don’t see it to our naked eye .. but there always moving toward a better survival outcome albeit very slowly. I see it when watching the slow motion footage of the wonderful naturalist David Attenborough’s documentaries about plants the things they do to get food, reproduce or get sunlight oh so interesting, I just love nature its so amazing.

I would love to have seen a picture with this.

I'm a gardener and I've noticed that most unwanted weeds also mimic cultivating plants
Sully Girl
* Seshati *, this is amazing to me also. I like the way you phrasedthat statement "moving toward a better survival outcome" such a positive concept. we humans could use some of that ability

nature is filled with plenty of surprises. Every time I see National Geographic it blows my mind on the photography they capture and how nature take care itself. we are the ones that is mess it up.

A plant that duplicate leaves...wow
Wombat
brickmartian, yes, but those animals have eyes and a brain (/brains in the case of octopi). It’s not the same at all. It’s not even comparable. This plant has to read or at least recognise DNA, or regognise something else of its host and know to start growing in a specific shape. That’s insanely advanced evolution in a very unique direction.

I knew that the strange (for me as I didn't know that)name would be the answer 😜
brickmartian
I learned something new, but I can see how it would only be reasonable since their are geckos, octopi, and other species of animals, (and possibly plants), that are capable of mimicry and camouflage!
Juliana
what do the berries taste like? bitter, tart, or sweet?
Lena
wow. I'm Soo googling this to see a pic! amazing !

Spongle, very good question.
I think that there is only one sense, and that is the ability to feel. our five senses are five different ways to perceive what we are able to feel. light has to touch the eye for us to see it.
everything gives off frequencies, everything is splashing in the pond.
but, perhaps, this plant gets genetic information from the host plant that it is growing on.
or maybe it does see(?) it.

Wow I new because of the hard name
