Most of the "original fairy tales" were told to children, not to entertain them, but to teach them things about the real world. They were originally more gruesome, more gory & more frightening; but somewhere along the line in history they were "reworded", "reworked", (and in some people's opinion), dumbed down to what they are now which do not teach children a whole lot anymore; they are just fanciful and fantasy for the imagination & dreams.
