Pretty slick that the gods only want the smoke and bones from sacrifices leaving men to feast on the meat.

Brandywine, I think it much more likely that the concept of the Judaic tradition 'God' derived from Zeus and Jesus derived from Hercules. The fictionalised status of the Greek and Roman gods with their associated stories are in essence no different to the fictionalised status of the Judaic (Judaism/Christian/Muslim) traditions as shown in the Old Testament and the stories and morals that derived from it and subsequent holy books.

His name actually started out as being "Zeus Pitar", which is obviously where "Ju-piter" came from. There are some threads that show the Greeks and Romans alike began these stories based Zeus on God and Hercules as Jesus. But then they fictionalized them both and made them be their own characters and gave them stories/children/etc. distorted for generations and generations until it all became its own mythology.
