In which direction on the compass am I steering if I am sailing on a heading of 135°?

LionsLamb79, actually anybody who has seen a magnetic compass can calculate it easily.. As 0° is north, 180° is south.. So 135 has to be south east

Nautical navigation is not very common knowledge. It would be difficult for most layman to get this right on the first try.

I think I will just use Google.

Anyone who has used a protractor (D) in school, would normally reckon angles in the counterclockwise direction and, therefore, conclude "southwesterly". But, apparently, in navigation, it's the other way round; didn't know that.
