According to the opening chapter of the Gospel of John, what was the first?
Correct answer: Word

Lorraine
More and more questions are incorrectly worded which can make it more difficult to understand the questions and therefore answer correctly.

I, Claudius
Johnson usurped the concept from the Greeks, "logos" which doesn't really have a translation in western philosophy. But it meant something along the lines of "the essence of everything" to the Greeks. Hence the words we inherit from them such as biology, logic, etc. To translate that word to just "Word" is to strip it of all meaning.

Even in this question the setter ( suppressed laughter) gets it wrong . In this chapter “ the first “ is the word ‘In’ .
Correctly it should be “What was in the beginning ?”
Additionally it is not ‘Word’ : it is very specifically “The Word”.
If you are going to bash the Bible please don’t mutilate it.
