Generally the fresh herb is called cilantro in the USA but we do still call them coriander seeds. They took me until I was an adult to learn they came from the same plant.

Lionessa, Pico de Gallo is SO good!

LJ
AlishaV, I agree. Both terms are correct in the USA. Some people call the plant Coriander even if growing it for the edible seed. And Cilantro if used for the fresh green herb. I love both uses. I once lived for a few years in a country where it must have been native. People there used it for both purposes and they used a lot of it. Fortunately I love it both ways! I have some smaller plants still alive in January here.

We used to dislike the taste as well, however, after playing around with it in recipes we appreciate it more now. For those who dislike the taste, try counterbalancing it with pineapple or orange juice or coconut milk or etc. They pair well with each other and offer up a suprising and unique flavor combination.
