we were in Amsterdam when people were dressed as this character and climbing buildings throwing sweets from roofs we didn't know what was going on until someone explained it to us .

It might be a tradition or folklore but blackface would be highly suspected as racism

Player #49699886, As an African, I'm baffled by black Americans' fragility. Come to Africa, and pretty much no one knows blackface unless they're somehow concerned with American politics like myself. Here in Kenya, people wear blonde wigs, and nobody thinks "white face"

Only to the woke . But I suppose society should make some effort to support our feeble minded .
Seriously the problem here is that Black Pete represents a Moor from Spain in a tradition going back centuries. However much BLM and the race Nazis wish to think otherwise “people of colour “ or whatever the current yadayada is , were extremely rare in Holland or Europe or the British Royal family or artist models for the Great Master artists etc until the mid 20thCentury . So if you wished to portray a “black” person there were few options.

Lorraine , I didn’t see anything in this question or explanation about Americans! Why are you always so negative about us!
