Which part of a shark is used in a soup that is considered a delicacy in many parts of the world?

Precisely another "delicacy" which makes me to never visit Asia.

The senseless slaughter of sharks who are thrown back into the water alive after having their fins cut off and left to die because they can't swim and pass water over their gills. If cut the limbs off the fishermen and throw them into the sea.

it's barbaric the way they cut the sharks fin off its back, I've seen it on TV, it's horrible!!! really horrible

China don't have any respect for animals at all. just look at Youlin festival where they eat dogs and they even steal them to be sold and tortured and killed to eat. Other animals have died almost to extinction due to China's beliefs that they are an aphrodisiac. Bear bile farming is another one, not to talk about fur where they basically skinn them alive dogs and cats to throw them away to die a slow painful death. China is a horrible country the atrocities towards animals is beyond anyone's imagination. I will never visit that country.

Damwic , these awful things are practised in other Asian countries dogs and cats are tortured before being killed to provide meat for humans. bears are farmed for bile too. I have given hundreds of pounds to charities to help stop these terrible activities, but it still goes on. We must do all we can to stop it.
