What temperature can a bolt of lightning reach?
Correct answer: 30,000 degrees Celsius (54,000 degrees Fahrenheit)
Player Say what!?
While in the Mojave desert, I saw many piles of glass oddly seemingly dumped on the ground. It was very puzzling and I learned years later it was the dirt turned to glass from lightning strikes. A name for it I don't remember though.

Lightning occurs by the following
The top of the thunderstorm cloud is positively charged whereas the bottom of the thunderstorm cloud is negatively charged.
The ground is positively charged and when the negative portion of the cloud reacts with the positive portion of the ground static energy forms and then as a result a lightning bolt occurs.
