What is a "derecho" storm?
Correct answer: A long front including one or more thunderstorms or tornadoes

ElixSkipper
Damage is primarily from straight line severe thunderstorm winds in excess of 60-70 mph winds or more. Any tornadoes that form are on the leading edge & very brief. Derechoes span up to hundreds of miles long and travel hundreds of miles across several states.

I've been through 4 hurricanes and the worst WIND damage was from a dorecho

kelo wren, no. Derecho ending in “o” means straight ahead. Derecha ending in “a” means “right.”

Player #26264402, I was hit with the same storm in 2000. No power at our house for three days, everything was just a mess. And west of here got hit worse than we did. Lots of roofing and siding contractors made lots of money.

Jo, I thought derecho meant right, and todo rector was straight ahead I must have been taught wrongly.
