Which flying insect is the fastest?

I passed two dragonflies mating. I thought isn't that sweet. I had forgotten something. On my way back a head was on the ground and the female was eating his body.

I suspect our back garden was once a pond/ spring , and breeding site for dragonflies. I love trying to watch them flying around but , yes , they are very fast!
