Who was Florence Finch?

It is amazing that such a large number of people who survive being subjected to torture with radical starvation live to very long ages. ie. Holocaust and Changi survivors. Is it something starvation does to the system or the psychological makeup of the person or a combination of both?

never heard of her until today. not even in the news when she passed away.
