Which writer was denied a Nobel Prize due to "poor prose"?
Correct answer: J. R. R. Tolkien
Raindancer
I am 70 and I have loved Tolkien and everything he has ever written! I have copies of the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings and I have read them more times than I can count. I believe the Nobel judges should take into account how many copies have been sold and remember the majority of people might actually be right about authors.

Tolkien I guess we can debate about, but I’d love to know why they passed over Robert Frost!

Tolkien was the gateway to fantasy and sci fi for me the man was a genius he didn’t really need a Nobel prize to prove it!

This is kind of shocking information. I am loved Tolkien and Frost since I was in my teens.

Quite a misjudgement on the part of the judges. How sad. Tolkien and Frost are incredibly good writers.
