I heard of the specialty when I was diagnosed with having only one kidney. I found out when I was 30. I was born that way and so far it hasn't been a problem.

Nephrology is the treatment of just the kidneys. Urology is the treatment of the entire urinary tract. Had to look it up, never heard of nephrology.
