What is the inability to resist the urge to steal items called?

we had Aunt Bertha. She would frequent the neighborhood department store and when she did the manager would call my grandmother and tell her that Bertha is here and my grandma would tell him just put it on my bill. she like to take lipstick and Kleenex. on family get-togethers my mother always checked her purse before she left and of course she had everybody's lipstick and tissues in her purse. we returned it to the other guests and never mentioned it to Aunt Bertha.

About 30 years ago things went missing from my home. I found the missing things in the home of a friend. I asked why my things were in her home. She told me she wanted to keep them safe. I took them back the my home. A few months later the same items went missing again.
