What's the difference between butterflies and moths?
Correct answer: Moths are nocturnal and butterflies are active during the day

Player #96919
Player #21173880, They sure are but I must say, there are some beautiful coloured moths too. I wonder why some people are afraid of moths and not butterflies, is it because moths are quite furry looking or that they only come out at night?

luckycatfay
Player #96919, I think its more that they come in and flap around a light .although I'm not scared of them I have to chase around to catch them in a glass to put them outside.

little b, do you like spiders and snakes?

tia
I always thought it was to do with wing shape - that is, top surface of wings slope downwards from "torso" in moths and slope upwards in butterflies 🦋

Abdullah, what is moth

ddadadaa
There are thousands of day flying moths. Many are micromoths but very important daytime polinators

Kevin
This is an odd question, as, in the UK there are more day flying moths than there are butterflies...

yuri
I'm okay with butterflies but I can't stand moths, also when butterflies stand on an object their wings would be close to each other upwards while moths' wings form a triangle when they r standing. When u see a butterfly flying u can see how slowly and gently it flies but moths they flap their wings quickly that they look like a cotton ball or something like that.In conclusion I don't like both 😅 but they are absolutely wonderful creatures!

Mark
This answer is wrong. Not all moths are nocturnal, and the wing-folding is by no means exclusive to either species. Their main difference is their antennae.

Another difference is the way their wings are when not in flight. A butterfly will have its wings up, and a moth will have their wings down.
